The
Men and Women competition for Senior, Junior and Youth A consists of: Handicap
start, approx. 20m run, 5 Targets down (time limit 1’10”); 1000m run;
5 Targets down (time limit 1’10”); 1000m run, 5 Targets down
(time limit 1’10”); 1000m run. Youth
B, Boys and Girls competition consists of: Handicap
start, approx 20m run, 5 Targets down (time limit 1’10”); 1000m run; 5
Targets down (time limit 1’10”); 1000m run. 5.1.2
Relay competition (team of 3 pentathletes) The
Men and Women Competition for Senior, Junior, Youth A and Youth B consists
of: Handicap
start, approx. 20m run, 5 Targets down (time limit 1’10”); 1000m run;
5 Targets down (time limit 1’10”); 1000m run; for each of the 3
pentathletes. The
hand over zone must be organised on the start/finish area. 5.1.3
Relay competition (team of 2 pentathletes) The
Men and Women Competition for Senior, Junior, Youth A and Youth B consists
of: Handicap
start, approx. 20m run, 5 Targets down (time limit 1’10”); 1000m run;
5 Targets down (time limit 1’10”); 1000m run; for each of the 2
pentathletes. The
hand over zone must be organised on the start/finish area. 5.2
Control Section of competition materials/equipment and clothing i)
Maximum 1 reserve pistol or barrel per pentathlete is to be brought to the
equipment and clothing checkpoint for inspection and marking. The reserve
pistol must be taken directly to the range and deposited closed in the
pentathletes box at their own shooting station. The range staff will
not permit the deposit of reserve pistol after the warming up time is
ended. 5.2.2
Warming up, Zeroing and Preparation Time i)
Warming up for individual and relay competition is 25 minutes, during
which time the pentathletes can run and shoot an unlimited number of shots.
ii)
The warming up can start only after the Combined Event Director has given
the specific command. iii)
Before the 25 minutes warming up begins, pentathletes have 5 minutes
preparation time during which time they can prepare all the equipment
necessary for the competition. During the 5 minutes preparation time, dry
fire and aim exercises are not allowed. iv)
Zeroing may take place only on the range using 10m air pistol paper
targets. Paper targets must be placed at the same level and at the same
distance from the firing point on the right side of the competition
target. v)
The shooting station corresponds to the pentathlete’s starting number.
Pentathlete No.1 will shoot at station No.1, pentathlete No. 2 will shoot
at station No. 2 and so on. vi)
After the warming up and before the start signal the pistols must be on
the assigned firing line, not charged and without pellets in the chamber
and the reserve pistol must be closed in its box. vii)
At the shooting firing point, pentathletes can use water and towels which
must be kept under the table with the reserve pistol and any binoculars
used during warm up. viii)
During the warming up the coaches can assist and communicate with the
pentathletes but outside of the shooting stations and the running corridor.
A special area for coaches during warming up will be clearly marked. ix)
Shooting warming up session must be closed 3 minutes before the start of
the combined event competition and coaches must clear the Field of Play. x)
The Shooting Director will inform the pentathletes of the last minutes of
the shooting session warming up. 5.2.3
Organisation of the Combined Run Shoot Event i)
The Combined Event takes place with any 4.5mm calibre compressed or CO2
single shot air pistol, fired at a target from a distance of ii)
The pentathlete must stand free with both feet on the ground, without
support, completely within the shooting station. The entire pistol must be
held and fired with one hand only; iii)
The pentathletes are responsible for shooting the correct target; iv)
It is compulsory to load each shot with the pistol in contact with the
shooting table; v)
The Shooting competition is in 3 series: Each series consists of
hitting 5 targets with an unlimited number of shots in a maximum time of
1’10” on a target of dimension 59.5mm. If after 1’10” one or
more targets have not been hit, the pentathlete can start on the running
leg without being penalised. vi)
Each pentathlete/team must always use their same shooting station. vii)
The pentathletes must run a short distance to their shooting station and
start the first shooting series of 5 targets. viii)
Shooting station N° 1 must be the farthest away from the starting gates. ix)
Only after having hit 5 targets using an unlimited number of shots in the
time limit of 1’10”, can the pentathlete start from the shooting
station to perform the first running leg of 1000m; After the first leg, the
pentathletes return to their shooting stations, where they must reset
their target, (only the pentathlete is authorised to reset their target)
and then start the second shooting series that consists of hitting 5
targets using a unlimited number of shots but in the time limit of
1’10”; After the second shooting
series the pentathletes perform the second running leg of 1000m. After the
second leg, the pentathletes return to their shooting station, where they
must reset their target, and then start the third shooting series of
hitting 5 targets using an unlimited number of shots but in the time limit
of 1’10”; After the third shooting
series the pentathletes perform the third and final running leg of 1000m
to the finish line. x)
A pentathlete must follow the course from crossing the start line until
crossing the finish line. xi)
A pentathlete must complete the course. xii)
When the pentathlete is lapped by the competition leader, their combined
event is terminated. In this case they will be ranked in the last
position. In case more than one pentathlete is lapped, the first
pentathlete lapped will be placed last and the second pentathlete lapped
will be placed in the penultimate place and so on. xiii)
In case of team results the lapped athletes receive the qualification
combined event results to add to the final 3 event results (fencing +
swimming+ riding). xiv)
In case the points are more than those of a pentathlete, or pentathletes,
who were not lapped, there will be an adjustment to the points. 5.2.4 The Start i)
The handicap start must use two gates. ii)
The handicap must be calculated on the basis of the previous event results
(Fencing + Swimming from qualification competitions or Fencing + Swimming
+ Riding from Finals). iii)
Pentathletes with a handicap after the previous events of more than 2
minutes 30 seconds will start in a pack start, but their final time will
be recalculated based on their real handicap. iv)
The pentathletes are responsible for knowing their own start time and for
being at the start line on time. v)
The Announcer will make known “10 minutes” and “5 minutes” prior
to the start of the combined event; Three (3) minutes before
the start, the Announcer will declare warming up on the shooting range
finished; Two (2) minutes prior to
the start, all the pentathletes must be at the start area and the Deputy
Starters will begin lining up the pentathletes. One minute prior to the
start, all the pentathletes must be at the corresponding gates and in the
order of their start time. vi)
The Starter will announce - One minute to start, thirty seconds, 20 and 10
seconds to the Start; After the OK has been given
by the Timekeepers and the Combined Event Director, the Starter will tell
the first pentathlete “Take your Marks”, followed by the start signal; All timing equipment will
start at the start signal; At the start area, there
must be a start clock placed so that it is easily readable from the start
line; The start time for the
first pentathlete will be 00.00. Pentathlete N° 1 starts at time ‘zero;
pentathlete N° 2 starts at ‘x’ seconds depending on the handicap, and
so on. vii)
In all UIPM Category “A” Competitions video recording is compulsory at
the start/finish line. viii)
In Relay competitions the Handicap start is by using two gates but with
two different starting lines (distance between the two lines 2.5m). 5.3
Scoring 5.3.1
Individual Competition Men
and Women Senior, Junior, Youth A and Youth B: 2000
points are awarded for a time of 14 minutes. Each second faster or
slower than the prescribed time is worth +/-4 points. 5.3.2
Relay Competition (team of 3 pentathletes) Men
and Women Senior, Junior, Youth A and Youth B: For
team of 3 athletes, 2000 points are awarded for a time 28.00. Each second
faster or slower than the prescribed time is worth +/-4 points. 5.3.3
Relay Competition (team of 2 pentathletes) Men
and Women Senior, Junior, Youth A and Youth B: For
team of 2 athletes, 2000 points are awarded for a time 19.00. Each second
faster or slower than the prescribed time is worth +/-4 points. 5.4 Penalty Stop Areas 5.4.1
The Penalty Stop Area will be located on the shooting station. 5.4.2
A Last Penalty Stop Area, located not further than 5.5
Malfunctions i)
Malfunctions are not taken into consideration ii)
Should a pistol cease to function, the pentathlete, with the agreement of
the Range Officer may use the reserve pistol, or another barrel, that must
have also been approved by the Equipment Control Section. iii)
If a shot has not fired due a malfunction, the pentathlete may use the
reserve pistol without interrupting their competition and without lose the
shot. iv)
If the reserve pistol also does not work the pentathlete will be either
eliminated or can wait at the shooting station until the 1’10”
shooting time has expired before starting the running leg. 5.6 Infringements and penalties 5.6.1
A pentathlete is penalised by a time penalty of Ten Seconds for each of
the following offences: i) contravening clothing regulations ii)
modifying the dimensions of the start numbers iii) false start iv)
not placing the pistol safely on the table after the warming up
ended and after each shooting series v)
not loading each shot with the pistol in contact with the shooting table vi)
if coaches during the warming up assist the pentathletes outside of the
designated coaches area, first time warning second time 10 seconds penalty vii)
If the pentathletes do not have the pistol in the box before the official
warming up period has started, first time will be warning and the
second time 10 seconds penalty viii)
The 10-second penalty must be paid at the pentathlete’s shooting
station. In the case of contravening clothing regulations, modifying the
dimensions of the start numbers, false start or not placing the pistol
safely on the table after the last series, the penalty must be paid by the
pentathlete at the last penalty stop area. 5.6.2
A pentathlete is penalised by time penalty of One minute for each of the
following offences: i)
if the pentathlete shoots on a wrong target The
one-minute penalty must be paid on at the pentathlete’s shooting
station. In case of infraction during the last series, the penalty must be
paid by the pentathlete at the last penalty stop area. 5.6.3 A pentathlete is eliminated for i)
starting running leg before the shooting time has expired without having
hit all 5 targets ii) not completing the course iii)
jostling, running across or obstructing another pentathlete so as to
impede their progress iv)
deviation, deliberate or not, from the course v)
unauthorised assistance, if not disqualified, upon discretion of the
Competition Jury vi) using an unapproved pistol 5.6.4 Pentathletes are disqualified for i)
modifying or adjusting their officially approved pistol so that it
violates the rules ii)
exchanging their pistol in violation of the rules iii)
a blatant attempt to start too early 5.6.5 Combined Event termination In
case a pentathlete is lapped by the leader, their combined event will be
terminated and they will be ranked in last position (see Rules 5.7.2 xii,
xiii,xiv). B.5.7
Range Requirements i)
The ranges can be indoor or outdoor and must be constructed so that direct
sun does not disturb the pentathletes. ii)
The shooting range must be built in such a way it can guarantee the safety
of the pentathletes, coaches, judges and spectators. iii)
The shooting range must protect the pentathletes from the wind, also
lateral wind, using closed walls on the two lateral sides. iv)
The lateral wall must include the pentathletes shooting station of minimum
one metre in length and in total the lateral wall must be not less than v)
The background area behind the targets must be non-reflecting, medium,
neutral colour. vi)
The shooting range must protect the pentathletes from the rain using
special roof coverage and a waterproof box to protect the pistol, water,
towels and binoculars of the pentathletes located under the shooting table. vii)
The pentathletes shooting area (minimum 1m and maximum 1.30m wide) must be
clearly defined with two visible lines. viii)
The shooting range must be prepared in such a way the spectators can enjoy
the competition and watch the finish, so with the finish line near the
shooting range. ix)
During both training and competition, competitors must enter the range
from one side and exit other side. x)
There must be sufficient space (minimum 4m) behind the firing points to
allow the pentathletes, before and after each shooting series, to run to
their shooting station without disturbing the other pentathletes and to
permit the Range Officials and the UIPM TDs/NTOs to perform their duties. xi)
Targets must be marked with numbers corresponding to their shooting
station number. The numbers must be large enough to be easily seen under
normal shooting conditions with normal vision from the appropriate
shooting station. xii)
The shooting station must be marked with number corresponding to the
firing point number. xiii)
The targets must be fixed in such a manner that they have no appreciable
movement. xiv)
The height of the target centre must be within the following height
measured from level of the floor of the firing point: - Standard Height Variation:
1.40m +/- - Horizontal variation for
target centre: xv)
The firing point must be equipped with: -
a table or bench, about 0.7m - 0.8m high; -
the table must have a protection for the pistol and the pellets in case of
rain (waterproof box) or a place under the table xvi)
A wind directional sign must be clearly visible from all shooting stations.
At competitions and official training, 3 wind flags must be installed one
at each side of the shooting stations and one in the middle. The flags
must be placed so that the top edge of the flag is at the same level as
the bottom edge of the targets and can not obstruct a direct line of sight
to the targets. B.5.7.2
Electronic Targets i)
Electronic targets consists of one black single aim and 5 green/red lamps
indicators. ii)
Shooting zone- for competition, target (shooting zone) and indicators must
be separated. Target standard dimension :
250mm diameter circle. The target valid zone is 59.5mm. The target system must be
clearly visible to all the spectators. Targets must be of a
non-reflecting colour and material. iii)
Indicators Wavelength : Red colour must be 660nm and green colour 525nm.
(+/- 5nm.) Indicators must be installed minimum 1m up to the shooting
zone. For
“A” Category competitions, indicators must be 55mm diameter with
minimum of 140° viewing angle. For all other competitions, 55mm diameter
or 26mm diameter with minimum 90° viewing angle. Background
of the indicators must be a dark colour. Distance between each red/green
lamp must be 40mm. iv)
The targets have to be fixed to a rack or wall (height 2.3m approx) and
guarantee the centre of the aim is at 1.40m height. If the wall is not in
wood or plastic, then some fixation able to receive a screw of 6mm
diameter must be prepared for each station at 1.30m and 2.10m height. v)
The target must be controlled from the shooting station by a button
of minimum 35mm diameter and easily accessible by the pentathlete. Just
one button must be used to control all the shooting process. vi)
Targets must be able to be used without any computer connection required. vii)
Targets input power must be in the range 90-240 AV. The power cable must
be 3*2,5mm2 section with a waterproof box equipped with a 20A security.
This box has to be fixed on the back side of the wall at 2m height. A
power backup system (minimum 750VA) must be provided by LOC in case
stadium/arena is not already equipped. viii)
Targets must be usable under all weather conditions, including sunny
weather. B.5.7.3 Mechanical targets i)
Mechanical falling targets consist of 5 black holes. ii)
Targets must be of a non-reflecting colour and material. iii) Basic mechanical target is of dimension: Length 42cm. Height 15cm Width 15cm. iv)
The minimum distance between each hole is 8cm. v)
The target valid zone is 59.5mm. vi)
The target system must be clearly visible to all the spectators. vii)
The targets have to be fixed to a rack or wall and guarantee the centre of
the aim is at 1.40m height. viii)
For correct function of the mechanical target, it is absolutely necessary
to adjust the target with a level as if not exactly level, the target
could have a malfunction and generate wrong or irregular shooting results. ix)
The reset rope must be brought in a straight line to the pentathlete’s
shooting table and fixed there for ease of use by the pentathlete or
referee. x)
The white plastic surface must not be painted. The surface of the matrix
might be painted B.5.8 Air pistol i)
Only single shot pistol is allowed. B.5.9 Air Pistol Ammunition Any
calibre 4.5mm (.177) projectile made of lead or other soft material is
permitted. B.5.10 Laser system i)
The combined event may take place using the laser system. ii)
The laser pistol – only single shot pistols are allowed. iii)
The laser target must be the same dimension as air pistol targets. PENALTY
