In Paris, at the Fencing World Championship, the Latvian  pentathletes Rublevska and Jefremenko competed at high level.

Elena Rublevska passed the round with 3v2d, then won the first match. So she was in the best 64. Then she lost against Nisima (new world champion).

In the men competition Mihails Jefremenko passed the round with 5v and 1d. So he won the match for the 64 and also the follow one for the 32.

For the 16 Mihails lost against the Italian Tagliariol, Olympic Champion. So Jefremenko finished in 26th position.
