Medany (Egy) won at the Junior World Championships her 3rd individual gold medal. So after 2006 and 2008, also in the 2009 she is the World Champion. Silver medal for Lebedeva (Rus) and bronze medal for Isaksen (Usa).

In the men competition there was Korea surprise.

The Korean won every competition. So in the individual 1st was Ahn (Kor), winner of the fencing. 2nd Jung (Kor), winner of the combined, 3rd Karyakin (Rus). In 4th place another Korean.
